House Painters in Havana & Midway, FL

Havana is the closest town to us that is not in Leon County. It sits about 19 miles northwest of our shop on Lake Hall Rd., a 25-minute drive on a normal morning, just over the Gadsden County line. Midway is in the same county, south of Havana down on I-10. Both are close enough that a crew of two or three can load up at the shop, be on your driveway before the day gets hot, and still get home for supper. That is why we go. It is a short drive, and people out there ask.

Havana

US 27 runs straight through the middle of Havana, and State Road 12 crosses it there. The town was incorporated in 1906, back when it was a railroad and shade-tobacco town, and these days it is better known for its antiques, art galleries, and specialty shops.

A town that old has old houses in it. We cannot tell you about your house from behind a desk. We can tell you what happens to wood siding, wood window trim, and wood fascia out here. The sun and the summer rain go after it every year, and the paint alone will not save it. So on an older house our estimate starts with a walk around the outside looking for soft spots. If we find a rotted sill or a fascia board that has gone punky, we say so and tell you what it will take. That work comes first. Read how we handle minor wood rot and carpentry repair before we paint. We will not put new paint on a board that is already coming apart. It does not hold, and you end up paying twice.

Midway

Midway is younger. It was incorporated in 1986 and it sits right on I-10, at Exit 192 where US 90 comes through, about 12 miles west of Tallahassee. From our shop it is an easy shot down to the interstate. Most exterior jobs out there start the same way for us. A pressure wash to get the mildew and pollen off, then exterior house painting once the wall is clean and dry.

What we do out there

The same six things we do in Tallahassee. Two matter more on this side of the county line:

• Exterior painting. Out here we watch the radar as hard as the calendar. Three wet days in Gadsden County means we move your start and call you, because a wet wall does not get painted to keep a date.
• Wood rot repair. Older wood trim is common in Havana, so we look for the soft fascia ends, sills, and siding sections first. That work is minor carpentry, billed by time and material, and it happens before the first coat.

We also paint interiors out there, and we pressure wash on its own when that is all you need. Look at our work if you want to see finished jobs before you call.

How the estimate works from 25 minutes away

Nothing changes because you are across the county line. Marshall or Gerard drives out, walks the house with you, and writes the quote. It is free. Marshall has been estimating jobs for us for 12 years, and Gerard has been doing it since he started the company in 1998, so you are not getting a salesman with a tablet. You are getting one of the two people who will plan your job.

We are usually booked out. When you call, we tell you the start date we can hold. And if you are hoping to paint the outside this year, remember that October and November are the driest weeks we get. Those fall slots go in late summer, in Havana the same as in Killearn.
