Painters in Tallahassee, Neighborhood by Neighborhood

We are a Tallahassee company. Not a franchise with a Tallahassee page. Gerard started Superior Painting here in June 1998, brought his father in as a partner, and still lives in town (the longer story is on our About page). Our shop is at 2184 Lake Hall Rd., off Thomasville Rd on the northeast side, near Maclay Gardens. If you live along the Killearn and Bradfordville corridor, you have probably passed our truck on Thomasville Rd.

From that shop we send crews of two or three all over the city. Below are the neighborhoods we drive most and what the houses there tend to need.

The neighborhoods we drive most

One thing up front. We work across all of these areas, and we are not going to make up a job count for each one to look busy. If you want proof, our work and our reviews are the honest version.

Killearn

Head north on Thomasville Rd from our shop and you are in Killearn in a few minutes. Killearn Estates and Killearn Lakes went up over several decades, so you get older houses and newer ones side by side, most of them under tall pines. Pine straw and spring pollen collect on north-facing walls and soffits, which is why we usually talk about pressure washing in Tallahassee before we talk about paint out here.

Bradfordville and Ox Bottom

Bradfordville is about eleven minutes up the road from us. Bigger lots and newer subdivisions off Bradfordville Rd and Ox Bottom Rd. Trim and shutters take the sun hard on those open lots. When someone asks about exterior house painting in Tallahassee out here, the first thing we check is the fascia and the window sills, because that is where sun and rain get in first.

Betton Hills

Down toward town, tucked between Thomasville Rd and Centerville Rd, Betton Hills is one of the older neighborhoods on this side of Tallahassee. Brick and wood houses under big live oaks. Old wood trim means more scraping, more caulk, and sometimes a section that needs minor wood rot and carpentry repair before any paint goes on. Rot gets fixed first. We do not paint over it.

Midtown

Midtown is about twelve minutes from the shop, around Thomasville Rd, North Monroe, and Fifth Avenue. Older houses, some with plaster walls, and small offices and storefronts on the main streets. A homeowner asking about interior painting and a practice manager asking about a commercial repaint can be on the same block.

SouthWood

SouthWood is the newest of the six, off Capital Circle SE on the southeast side. About twenty minutes from Lake Hall Rd. Newer siding still needs paint after enough Florida summers, and the trim goes first. If the kitchen is original to the house, cabinet painting is a way to change it without tearing it out.

Buck Lake

East side, off Mahan Dr and Buck Lake Rd toward I-10. A mix of older and newer subdivisions, and a good many two-story homes. Two stories means ladders and staging, and it means we quote the job in person instead of guessing off a photo.

What we do in Tallahassee

We do six things in Tallahassee, and each has its own page.

• Interior painting for walls, ceilings, trim, and doors, with canvas drop cloths and sliders under the heavy furniture.
• Exterior house painting, planned around the weather. We do not paint wet wood.
• Commercial repaint for offices, retail, facilities, and rentals.
• Minor wood rot and carpentry repair on fascia, trim, sills, and siding sections, done before the paint.
• Pressure washing as prep or on its own.
• Cabinet painting and refinishing.

That has been the whole plan since 1998. Colleen has been painting with us for 25 years. Marshall has estimated jobs for 12. That is who you get.

When to paint here

We paint year-round. October and November are the driest, most workable exterior weeks Tallahassee gets, with April and May close behind. Those fall slots fill up in late summer. Summer afternoons rain. Three days of rain pushes an exterior job back, and we call you when it does. Inside work runs on its own schedule, rain or not. Expect a wait most months, and expect a straight answer on how long.

Outside the city

Tallahassee is home and where most of our jobs are. The towns around us each have their own page, with the drive from our shop and what to expect:
