Old houses are why we like this kind of work, and also why we are careful. Wood siding, porches, columns, and windows. Every one of those is a place water gets in over the years. When Marshall or Gerard walks a Quincy exterior, he looks at the sills, the porch skirting, and the bottom edge of the siding before anybody talks color. If a board is soft, it gets flagged for minor wood rot and carpentry repair before a brush comes out. Painting over it would look fine for a season and then peel, and you would be calling us back mad. Fair enough.

Out toward the interstate and along 267 the houses run newer, more brick and less wood, and the prep goes quicker. Same crew and the same canvas drop cloths either way.

Summer afternoons come with thunderstorms, and a soaked porch column does not get painted that day no matter what the schedule says. If we lose days to rain, we tell you and we come back.
